Nightly Skin Care Routine

Lately I have been getting stricter with following a proper skin care routine everyday to keep my face clean and possibly save it from some break outs and signs of my complete exhaustion. Although I may not use all of these products daily, I still try to use them as often as possible.

› Cleanse — Cleansing is a great way of making myself feel I’ve done at least one step in making sure I don’t fall asleep with my skin feeling gross. I still don’t enjoy washing my face with a cleanser and washing it off and getting water everywhere, but I’ve found an alternative. (1) I currently use the St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Scrub every time I shower. This may get pushed to the morning sometimes, but whenever I do shower at night, this is a must. This scrub isn’t too harsh on my skin, but I can tell it’s doing its job as I massage it into my face. My sister started using mine and ended up buying her own, so we have two of them in the bathroom now. (2) Next, for when I do feel like using a face wash and throwing water at my face, I use the ORIGINS Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash. This is a newer one, as I only bought it recently and featured it in this haul. If it holds true to one thing, it is frothy! So far I’ve used it and really feel as though my face is clean and fresh after, so I’m gonna keep this one next to the sink and try to use it more daily.

› Tone and Treat — (3) A newer addition to my nightly routine is toner. I got the sample size of the Murad Clarifying Toner in a starter kit that I purchased probably a year ago, but haven’t started using the toner until very recently. I’ve only got about half the container left, so I’m researching to test out a new toner, but have nothing against this one if I have to repurchase this in the meantime. (4) Technically this is a cleanser product, but I use it as more of a spot treatment before sleeping. The LUSH Cosmetics Grease Lightning Cleanser contains a very important blemish fighting ingredient, and that’s tea tree oil. If I’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that tea tree oil is pretty much your best friend when it comes to skin care, as well as solving some of life’s other dilemmas. Once you can get over the scent, which isn’t strong in this product, it does wonders. I dab this on whenever I feel or see a breakout coming in and usually it does the trick to help minimize and heal it.

› Moisturize — Don’t worry, I don’t use all these products every single night. Let me explain: (5) Benefit’s It’s Potent! Eye Cream is the eye cream I use at night. I love my eye creams, and this one is cool to touch under my eyes (partly because my room is cold) and I feel it gives the right amount of moisture to hold me over until the morning. (6) Any sort of lip balm will do, but this winter my products of choice are the EOS Sphere Lip Balms. I was given the winter limited edition set (including Sweet Mint, Pomegranate Raspberry, and Vanilla Bean) as a gift for Christmas and have been using them at home and in my office ever since. It helps that these have no tint to them so I don’t have to worry about getting it all over my pillow while I sleep. (7) For my face I use the ORIGINS GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer. Although this is my daytime moisturizer, it doubles as my nighttime moisturizer when I’ve got nothing else on hand. (8) In my last Ipsy glam bag delivery, I recieved a sample size of the Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion. I’ve been using this as my main moisturizer at night. I’m not sure if I’d purchase it, but I’m going to use up the rest of this sample tube for sure. (9) Lastly, I believe this is my favourite moisturizer and I can say that because there’s practically nothing in the sample sized tube and I’ve had it this way since the end of autumn. This is the Kosmea Replenishing Moisture Cream. Although at first the smell of this product is a little off-putting, I grew to love it. The smell of rosehip oil isn’t a regular smell, but the benefits from it are supposed to be amazing. I will eventually find this product and purchase it again.

Well I hope you’ve enjoyed this lengthly description of what happens to my face at night. I will probably do a separate port about facial clothes/makeup removing wipes, and will definitely do a morning skin care/make up routine if that’s what the people want to read!
