I haven’t really gone shopping at all in the new year and while I was feeling a little stressed, I thought I deserved to treat myself to a trip to the mall for a session of retail therapy. I only went into 3 stores, and came out with a bag from each. This is the goodies that I picked up!

› Shoppers Drug Mart — It’s really hard for me to walk into Shoppers and not walk out without buying some sort of makeup, and today was no exception. I took a stroll down the makeup aisle and picked up a handful of new goodies to try out. Picture above, I got the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser and Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in Soothing Sorbet. I had been waiting for the Canadian release of the Baby Lips Dr. Rescue line, and glad I found one of them because this winter weather is taking its tole on my lips lately. Another release I was excited about was the Maybelline Colour Elixir products. I finally found them and picked one up in the shade Rose Redemption. I’ve been on the fence about going back to drug store brand foundations, but after hearing tons of amazing reviews for the Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation. I swatched the two lightest shades and hopefully I picked the right one for my skin tone. Two items that aren’t pictures are the Maybelline Colour Tattoo eye shadow in Bad to the Bronze, and the L’oreal Elnett Sation extra strong hold hair spray.

› Bath & Body Works — At the end of last fall I decided to dive back into the world of scented candles. The holiday season is always my favourite for scents, especially with the past two years releasing the Peppermint Mocha and Buttercream Mint scents. But since the holiday season has passed, I picked up two scents that aren’t holiday or winter themed. I walked around for about 5 minutes and smelt at least 15 different candles from all the newer collections on display, and somehow managed to restrain myself and only walk out with two new candles. I’m very picky on my scents. Pictured above, I purchased the Frosted Cupcake and Espresso Bar candles. I’m not one for really sweet scents, but I thought I’d give the Frosted Cupcake one a try, and I’m a coffee lover, so the Espresso Bar scent was an easy decision.

› H&M — Although there is no photo evidence of this stop, I went to the mall with the originally intention to go to H&M, and then the others happened afterwards. With H&M, I usually have a hard time finding clothing pieces that I like enough to buy. I give it the chance every now and then and sometimes it surprises me, but it sometimes lets me down as well (especially if the store doesn’t carry an item I like in my size). Today I picked up a few things, so it was one of the more successful visits. I ended up buying a new pair of striped tights, a printed sleeveless blouse, and a grey light sweater. These pieces will likely be seen in a style post very soon.

Overall it was a successful retail therapy session! It’s always such a great feeling to have a bunch of new things, except when you look at your bank statement later on, but that’s why I work very hard for my money. I’ve got some clothing pieces to style, some beauty products to try, and some candles to smell which I’m doing it all. Look for posts soon featuring the items mentioned.
