Haul: Pre-Birthday Shopping Spree

There comes a time of year when you receive a lot of bonus discounts or free gifts to stores that you have some sort of member’s card to because it’s close to your birthday. I think this is a great way to reward members of some sort of program with a store or brand, and I took advantage of this with my upcoming birthday with two stores.

› The Body Shop — I’ve been holding onto a coupon for becoming a member of their program for a little over a month now, and went into the store with one item in mind to purchase, the Early-Harvest Raspberry Body Butter. The smell is that addictive and I’ve never tried any of their body butters before but have only heard amazing things about them. Since the Raspberry collection was only supposed to be a limited time offer collection, I was lucky enough to have the sales lady retrieve it from the back for me. Meanwhile, I also wanted to pick up the Tea Tree Blemish Gel because I’ve had my eye on that for a while as well. Noticing that the store had a Buy 2, Get 1 Free promo going on, I selected the Cocoa Butter Body Butter because it smelled delicious and went to the cash with my goodies. I was delighted to know that my birthday discount was an additional $10 off so I spent only $15 on everything that I got that day. Meanwhile, I also had an online order come in about a week ago, which got me the Aloe Lip Treatment and Early-Harvest Raspberry Shower Gel. I’ve heard how moisturizing the lip treatment was and it has definitely lived up to its reputation! The shower gel has not been used yet, but I’m sure I’ll love it as much as the other products from that collection.

› Sephora — I have been trying to avoid going in Sephora for the last little while, but knew I had a birthday gift coming my way, so I decided to go in and claim it. Before getting my gift, I picked up two new Tarte products. First, I picked up the Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes! Waterproof Mascara because I loved the original formula but was really happy to see they came out with the waterproof version, which I also prefer to purchase. Secondly, I picked up the Tarte Smooth Operator™ Amazonian Clay Pressed Finishing Powder, which is a mouthful of words. I’ve yet to really dive into using this product, but I’ve been looking for a white finishing powder lately and am glad to test it out now. Now for the birthday gift! The VIB Rouge (because I clearly spend a lot of money at Sephora) birthday gift was a Make Up For Ever set of eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick – all which I will have to test out soon, maybe even on my birthday on Wednesday. But that wasn’t it! I also found out I had saved well over 1000 points and could redeem them for the 500 point perk sets. I selected the Laura Mercier 500 point perk box of goodies because I’ve been wanting to try out some of their products and thought this would be a great introduction kit. It came with a rose lip glacé, which I’m already a fan of, a tinted moisturizer, flawless skin face polish, foundation primer, and matte radiance baked powder highlighter. I tried to use most of these while doing my make-up today and will have a better idea of how I liked everything by the evening.

There is one last item that I got more than a while ago, but still wanted to through in a haul post somewhere. I ordered the The Lip Bar Lipstick in Whiskey Sour from the NYLON Magazine website and thought it would be cool to try a much warmer, yet duller, burnt-red lip colour. I would like to say that the packaging is pretty much almost the best part of this lipstick, it’s beautiful. I’ve only tried it on once but I’m determined to find the make-up look that it matches with best. That’s all for this pre-birthday haul, well for the make-up and skin care items anyways.
