Now that the summer weather is pretty much here to stay, now being mid-June, I explored the beauty counters and shops to add some new items to my ever-growing collection of skin care and beauty products. It’s not particular that some of these items are better suited for summer, even if they are, it’s just my introduction to the season with new products.
› First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser — With watching many beauty blogger videos and reading the blogs, this item has been on my wish list for quite a few months now! I’ve been waiting to get closer to finishing off my current cleansers so that I could have more of a reason to branch out and try this new one, and finally I made the purchase recently and am happy to finally be able to give it a try. The formula of the cleanser is a silky creamy texture. It goes on almost like a shaving gel, making it nice and smooth to massage all over the face. Although I’m not crazy about the scent, I do like how my face feels after I wash it off. I’ve only used it a couple times so far, and am wondering if my skin will prefer this cleanser over the ones I’ve tried in the past. Here’s hoping!
› Tarte Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Face And Body Self Tanner — As a bit of a background information for those that don’t already know: I have very pale skin. There is hardly any state of skin colour between pale and completely sunburnt when it comes to tanning for me. I’ve vacationed in the Dominican and came back just as pale as I left, and yet I can go to a fairly local beach for a couple hours and come back looking like a lobster. I’m not one for fake tanning, but once in a while I am intrigued by why I could like like with slightly tanner skin. I have made a few purchases when it comes to self tanners, but this is by far the best one I’ve purchased and I’ve only been using it for a week so far. I don’t want to stun people with a dramatic different right away, or risk any horrible application mistakes, so I am taking a very gradual approach with this one. The smell is actually very enjoyable and the mit (not pictures because it needs to be washed) helps for very easy application. The colour is not orange, but a natural looking tan colour. I’m excited to keep using this one throughout the summer!
› Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub — I know I was raving about the raspberry body scrub I bought recently, but something made my gravitate towards the Soap and Glory stand recently and I ended up purchasing this scrub to see how it would do in comparison. It was slightly more expensive, but contains about twice as much product. The smell is very lime-like and very different from the usual orange-citrus smelling products you usually see being advertised. The texture is very grainy and it actually kind of almost sticks to your skin to make exfoliating it into your skin a lot easier in the shower. I’m always wanting to try more products from this brand and I’m glad I picked this one.
› Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum Rollerball — I know this isn’t technically a “beauty” product, but I bought it and am proud of it! I remember smelling this perfume about a year ago and thinking it was “just another floral perfume scent”. I almost always stick to warm vanilla smelling perfumes, so this wasn’t even on my radar. On a recent walk through Sephora I felt the need to smell it again (I’ve been on a real perfume kick lately) and upon sniffing out the rollerball on the featured perfume stand, I fell in love with it. It only took a few seconds before I grabber a rollerball of my own and was excited to purchase it and wear it all the time! I only bought the rollerball for two main reasons: 1) The regular bottle of perfume is very expensive and 2) rollerballs are much more convenient to carry around if I wanted to take it with me. I love applying this in the morning because it is not a super overpowering scents like many other scents I also own, and I have applied it before bed even to smell it as I fall asleep because it’s very pleasant. This has already become my new favourite scent.
› Benefit Cosmetics Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer — What’s worse than makeup not lasting throughout the day? Makeup not lasting because it’s sweating off your face during the day! I do like the primers I’ve been using, but I figured for summer and all the extreme hot weather that I usually am not a fan of that I would try out this fairly new primer product because it may do a better job at keeping everything on my face. I don’t usually run into the issue of my makeup wearing, but this primer is almost like rubbing a glue stick on your face – just without all the nasty sticky glue residue left behind. I have noticed that my makeup does stay in place all day so I’m going to say that it’s effective and will keep using it throughout the hot weathers. Another handy fact about this primer is that you don’t really have to rub it into your skin as the glue stick application method seems to work just fine!
