October 2014 Empties

empties-october2014

I really needed to write this blog post soon because the little box I keep all my empty products in was overflowing and I couldn’t fit anything else in it. I’m really trying to use up old products before buying any new ones, but this is a hard habit for me to break. So here we go with all the recent products I have used up!

It was a sad day when I finished up my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I bought this concealer in the lightest shade Vanilla, and it worked perfectly for my skin tone and covered up any face demons like a pro! The creamy texture let it really adapt to the skin without making it look oily or greasy. This product is on the pricier end of concealers I’ve seen and liked, but I haven’t repurchased this one yet. I’m trying to see if I am able to find a drugstore dupe for it before going back to this one again. It was fantastic, but if I can find something that does pretty much the same thing, then I will hold off on buying it again. If you want to treat yourself though – this concealer is the one! The Caudalie Beauty Elixir was another item I was sad to see finished. Part toner, part serum mist, this beauty elixir was a thing of beauty! A higher price point than most people would be willing to spend on a product like that, but if you have the cash to afford it, this cooling and refreshing wonder spray is worth checking out – even if just the smaller version that I purchased. I hope to buy it again one day in the future because you start to miss it once it’s gone.

I actually cannot stop raving about the Aveeno Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Wipes. I know I’ve blogged about these before, especially in past empties posts, but they are always worth mentioning again. Since the moment I tried these makeup removing wipes out, I haven’t switched back to any of my older favourites. These are just so moisturizing and don’t leave a burning sensation on my face at all after it removes all my makeup. I finished this package and did not repurchase right away because I was trying not to resort to using makeup wipes, but when the night came around that I was super tired and ready to crash I really regretting not having these around. I went to the store and picked up a new package the next day.

Next I will discuss two products from the brand Origins that I have used up recently. I finally finished my Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash. This just seemed like your average everyday cleanser, nothing too exciting about this one for me. Better than some that I have tried, but not as great as others. Then I finished up this tiny little sample version of the Origins Drink Up 10 Minute Mask. Even in this miniature tube, I could definitely tell how moisturizing this mask substance was! I may consider adding this to a list for winter skin care and buy the full size if I don’t find anything better before the winter seasons hits.

Another skin care product that I’m going to through into this bunch is the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. I was really excited to try products from this brand, but so far haven’t been wowed. I did not notice anything super awesome about these facial pads and won’t be repurchasing them in the future. On the flip side of reviews, I finished up my Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Shower Gel. This stuff smelled divine! I am a sucker for anything raspberry flavoured or scented, and this one was definitely a favourite of mine. This was only a seasonal range, but if it gets released again next year I will be sure to pick up another!

Hair product time! I finished up my favourite Batiste Dry Shampoo in the Tropical scent. I found another one on sale instantly and am glad to have a brand new can of this whenever I need to make my hair look like it’s not as horrible as it really is. Definitely a miracle staple product for me! Another hair product that I was so glad to finally have finished up is the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray. I don’t even know how long I’ve had this product for, but I’m guessing close to two years at this point. I wouldn’t say this worked wonders by any means, my hair was too multi-toned for a majority of the past couple years to notice any sort of different anyways. I wouldn’t be getting this one again or any other products similar to this. Bringing this back to a hair product that I would purchase again – the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. This saltwater-based styling spray is another product that I find myself reaching for on a nearly daily basis and I had to repurchase it right away once I ran out. I did find myself using it more often throughout the warmer months, but I still reach for it when I need that extra texture and good grit in my hair for styling purposes. It’s highly acclaimed for a good reason!
