Haul: VIB Rouge Event

Once in a while the Sephora VIB Rouge members are treated to a special event with discounts, free samples, and more. This past week I attended my second VIB Rouge event this year and went in with a checklist of items that I needed to pick up. The last time I went to the event I forgot about a couple things that I had originally wanted to buy, so this time I made sure the checklist was on hand. I also made a rule that I could only purchase items on my checklist, and I had to logically justify every purchase. So this event was all about making it through by successfully getting what I needed and controlling myself from anything extra.

The first thing on my list was to buy a new face serum. I had one in mind, but it was unavailable at my local Sephora, so I was talked into purchasing the REN Vita Mineral Omega 3 Optimum Skin Serum Oil. That’s quite the long name for a product, and I wasn’t necessarily looking for an serum with an oil consistency. I was told it was really good for combating redness and was the most natural option in the store for face serums. I was also gifted a deluxe sample of the REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream for the reason that they worked so well together. I did notice that I had to give my hands a quick rinse after applying on my skin because my hands were left feeling a little bit oil after, but that could have been due to maybe a little too much product being used, just maybe. I guess I’ll have tow work my way through this one and see how I feel about it at the end.

Next on my list was to pick up a new spray can of the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish. I was nearing the last few spritzes of my first can and knew that I would miss this product as soon as it was gone. I’m always looking for ways to make my hair seem thicker and adding a thickening texturizing spray is definitely what helps a lot from my recent experience. You’ll be seeing more about this in my next empties blog post because I think I have one last use in my original can of it. Bumble and Bumble are good for hair products and a few of them have become staple products when it comes to my hair, even if they are more expensive than your everyday hair product brand.

Next on my list was an item I could cut from my checklist if needed, but I picked up the Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara. I got a sample of this in my last online Sephora purchase because I had been hearing about it through beauty bloggers and YouTube videos for the past month and there was quite a hype around it already. After my first use of the sample sized bamboo-cased mascara I was hooked. Tarte has always been amazing when it comes to creating mascaras that do it all. They lengthen and volumize your lashes, but this one is just better for some reason. I haven’t quite put my finger on what makes this one so spectacular, but I am very glad that I made the purchase.

The last thing on my list was “a limit of one lip product” and I can tell you now that I supposed this limit last second in the temptation alley before checking out. I was on the search for a certain product, but after not being able to locate it within the store I took it as a sign that I was meant to find something else. I ended up picking up Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge liquid lip product in the shade Dark Raspberry. I have always wanted a second shade of this product after falling in love with my original Raspberry shade nearly two years ago now, and now I finally own a second. This one is very dark, hence the word “dark” being in the name. It’s not a look that a lot of people go for and are comfortable with, but after putting it on and letting myself see how it looked for a few minutes I did not want to take it off. This one will have to be used sparingly for special events that I can pull it off, but I’m happy to own this product because of how long-wearing and pigmented it is.

I surpassed the limit of one lip product when I found the original lip product I was looking for when I found the Bite Beauty Mix N’ Mingle Lip Minis. I picked up the Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo in Date/Fig, and was expecting them to be a little bit darker than they turned out, but now I have a nude rose (Fig) and a light brown nude (Date) shade that is perfectly compact to fit in my bag that makes it really easy to touch up when I’m out. This can help me venture further into the Bite Beauty lipstick quality with a miniature version of two lipstick in one, and for a fraction of the cost!
