After I’ve been using one flat iron for a countless amount of years, I thought it was about time to finally try something different. I originally got a flat iron back in high school for straightening my hair, but eventually I learned to curl my hair with a flat iron, but I am now looking to find better results! Introduce the KISS InstaWave Automatic Curler. This is a fully automatic tangle-free curler that instantly creates all the curls you want with quite little effort on the user’s part. You can do tight curls and beach-inspired waves, all using the same product, and I can say that because I have had the chance to try out the product and quickly mastered how to do both now!

The InstaWave features the option of a left or right curl direction with a Curl Dial for an easier curling experience. Lately I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting that when you switch between curling right and curling left, the end result is an extremely natural looking hairstyle because all the curls aren’t going in one direction. Especially if you brush out your hair after a bit, which I’m known to do, it doesn’t become all one big swoop of the hair. There is a slight learning curve when you first start using it, but I think I quickly picked it up by the second time I used it and it’s super easy to get the waves I want. I even do the alternating waves now and really like it!

In case you are one of those people that leave the house wondering if you remembered to turn off your curling iron, there is good news! This product automatically shuts off after 90 minutes, so there is one less stressful thoughts through your mind! As long as the product is plugged in, it does have a very faint ringing noise, which has been reported to have no safety issues, but it can act as a good reminder to turn it off and unplug it after use. There’s a good part about everything! This hair curling wand has two heat settings using a low/high switch with maximum temperature of 420 degrees. That option was something my flat iron did not have, so applying less heat to my heat could be much healthier for my hair in the long run.

For when you actually use the InstaWave, here are the simple instructions from what I’ve learned so far. You can follow along with the images I have provided above because it is that simple. All you have to do is hold the wand vertically and place a section of hair on (or under sometimes!) the curling rod. Press the Curl Dial either left or right, and the curling rod will instantly and automatically catch and curl the hair as it turns. This is the time when you get to decide how long you want to hold it on for. The average is about 5-10 seconds, but hold longer for tighter curls and less for beachy waves. Once you’re done all you have to do it pull the curling rod down vertically, letting hair out. If your hair catches at all, this is the part that was the learning curve for me. I have learned to easily adjust the position of the wand to avoid my hair getting caught, but in a safe bet you can let go of the directional button to spot the motion and get the rod out of your hair.

I will be continuing to use this product because I feel it is really effortless and creates really nice waves! Much less effort involved than my flat iron because I don’t have to do any of the motions to create the curls, I just press a button with this one – and that safety feature is a big bonus in my mind. I usually don’t forget to turn it off and unplug it, but just in case, I know my house will be fine. If you’re looking to try out one of these yourself, you can find them at Walmart in Canada, and should be appearing on the Walmart Canada website now as well! In the US, KISS InstaWave is available in Target, Ulta & online at Amazon.com.
