Haul: Pre-Valentine’s Treats For Myself

“Treat Yo Self” is the famous phrase from NBC’s Parks and Recreation that happens to be one of my favourite shows, even if I’m still quite behind on watching. It just means the series finale will not come as soon for me as it does for people that keep up to date. Anyways, back to the quote, it’s important and something I know how to do quite well. After purchasing the crazy amount of products that I did for the giveaway contest, I found a way to treat myself with a haul of a few new products that have always caught my eye while walking through a Sephora or MAC Cosmetics counter. I thought I would write a post to talk about these special products and what my thoughts on them are so far.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. This is definitely one of those products that is considered treating yourself due to the quality, packaging, and price. I bought one of these gorgeously packaged powders in the shade Diffused Light, which is a soft, warm pale yellow powder to help “diffuse the life” when it comes to taking photos and keeping the shine at bay, which still letting your skin have a bit of a natural glow. All of these powders are finishing powders that features state-of-the-art technology to recreate the most exquisitely flattering types of light, and that is something I was finally giving in to purchasing and have been really happy with it so far. I was tempted to buy the trio palette, but I was really have the particular shade I got.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour. I purchased this eye colour stick in the soft mauve and pearl-like shade called Amethyst and I have never looked back since. I have picked up this product one too many times while browsing through Sephora and finally was brave enough to swatch ion the back of my hand and it was love at first swatch. These sticks have a creamy formula that is long-wearing, transfer-proof, and crease-resistant. The product is very easy to blend and helps you create a really easy smokey eye with very little effort on your part. These are not matte finish eye products, but I just love the colour so much that I don’t even care anymore. Outstanding product, even if it takes a little extra effort to remove. It’s completely worth it.

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish. A cold Canadian winter means dry and chapped lips for months on end usually. I thought I would finally give another Fresh lip product a try and ended up taking home the Sugar Lip Polish for when it comes to exfoliating and conditions my lips. This unique formula is made with real brown sugar crystals to gently buff away dry flakes as it exfoliates and conditions for a smooth finish while providing long-lasting moisture. It suggests to use this treatment about three times a week and wipe off with a damp cloth. I’ve tried others in the past that you could eat afterwards, but I will keep giving this one try to see how great my lips end up looking by the time winter ends.

MAC Cosmetics Plumful Lipstick. This is a shade of lipstick that can only be described as a mixture between plum and rose. This is one of the Lustre shades and although not a matte finish as I usually prefer, it still gives an amazing colour payoff and still does a great job at staying on your lips with very little touch ups needed. I would not say it is a kiss proof or food proof product, but it is just one that has been on my list for a while and I am happy to finally own it. After so many red lipsticks over the past few months it is nice to finally have a new plum-toned lipstick that I sure will get a lot of use this year.
