March 2015 Favourites

March Favourites

For the past several months I have been providing a good handful of random favourites, reaching across entertainment, beauty, fashion, and more. This month is all favourites that fit in the makeup and skin care categories of favourites. Some products have been mentioned on the blog recently, some are brand new. Keep reading to see why these six items are my favourites this month!

I think the winner of the entire selection this month has got to be the Soap & Glory Hand Food hand cream. If you have been reading my blog for a while then you will already know that I am very particular when it comes to picking a hand cream, and this became an instant favourite for a couple reasons. The main ingredients in this hand cream are shea butter, macadamia oil, and marshmallow – yes you read the correctly, marshmallow. This product is scented with one of the brand’s delicious original scents that they call the “pink” fragrance. I always wanted to try this product and thought I would give it a shot and I am so incredibly glad that I did. It really works to soften, smooth, and soothe my normally very dry hands. Eczema is not your friend, but this hand cream can become your best friend easily.

My next favourite is the product that I probably couldn’t pronounce if I tried, the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H. This foundation was suggested to me by a Sephora associate after colour matching it with my skin. I now officially know that I have pink undertones in my skin and will remember that for as long as I live. The hardest category of skin tones to match is those with pale skin and pink undertones, which is exactly the category I fit in. I got the lightest shade of the range, 100 Ivoire N, and have been using it ever since and am in love with it! My BB cream is running extremely low and may actually be empty, I am just not ready to part with it, so this foundation came into my life at the perfect moment. It is a 24-hour wear, oil-free foundation that is able to achieve a medium to full coverage. It comes out of a pump at the top and has a velvety and matte finish on the skin, which is exactly what I like when it comes to my base makeup. The packaging itself is beautiful and I am so glad to have this in my life.

I am bringing back a fragrance that I have not been giving enough love on the blog lately. The TokyoMilk Dark Bulletproof No. 45 from the Femme Fatale Collection has got to be my favourite fragrance since at least the past summer. I have introduced a few other fragrances into my collection that I will use randomly to mix it up a bit, but this scent is the one I still reach for almost every day. This is a smoky fragrance with notes of sultry teas, warm coconut, ebony woods, and exotic spice. The reason why this fairly unisex scent really does it for me is the fact that it is such a warming scent and can still be considering sexy and musky at the same time. It is definitely something different that people do not often reach for or talk about when it comes to favourite scents, but I would highly recommend this scent if you want looking for something different.

You may have heard me discuss this product in the post dedicated to a whole product review about it here, but the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit has just become even more functional for my everyday wear! If you did not read the product review I wrote about it, I basically said that it was a great contour kit, even for a beginner like me, but I made a note that two of the contour shades were a bit too warm for my liking. I have found a good part about these warm shades, and that is the fact that I can use them as eye shadows and they do an amazing job at being eye products that are very easily blended out like normal eye shadows. They add a great depth when used in the crease and blended in to look very natural. Back to using it for the main contouring purposes, I still think it is a fantastic kit and would recommend it to anyone wanting to dabble in the world of contouring and highlighting.

Another product that I did a product review on is the Arbonne Soothing Facial Serum from the Calm collection of skin care products. You can read my full review of the Calm collection here if you want to know about everything in the set, but this product had definitely been standing out as my favourite step. I have expressed my love of cream serums and my disliking towards oil serums, and this is a happy gel-like medium that does not leave you with that oiling feeling at all. This lightweight serum aimed towards people with sensitive skin soaks into your skin really quickly and leaves your skin feeling hydrated and supple, and works to improve the texture and appearance of your skin. This is definitely one of the top two favourite serums that I have ever used and am happy to be using the whole line at the moment.

Lastly, I treated myself to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in the shade Ethereal Light back in February and I have definitely been loving it ever since. This product is a universal finishing powder that features state-of-the-art technology to recreate the most exquisitely flattering types of light. The shade I got is a sheer, cool toned finishing setting powder that eliminates shine and mimics a moonlit glow. The eliminating shine part it perfect for photos and being cool toned helps control a bit of any redness that may be visible. This is the last step in my makeup routine before I spray a finishing setting spray on my face and I love the finish it gives to my skin. A pricier product, but definitely worth it as it become one of my favourite finishing products.
