Leading up to the Sephora VIB rouge event, I was trying to wait to make any purchases to get the discount and think of anything that I would be wanting to buy soon. One of the things that came to mind was a new blush to add to my collection. For some reason my current blush selection just wasn’t doing it for me for the past while and I wanted to try something new. Enter the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush. These blush products combines the customized lighting effects of Ambient Lighting Powder with blush-like hues to create the perfect blush products that are very sought after in the beauty world. I wish Sephora still had the palette with three different shades to select from, but I missed my window on that product and had to settle with deciding between the single blush shades.
I ended up going with the shade Mood Exposure, which is referred to as “a soft plum” blush shade. I bought a new Sephora Collection brush to go with it and know that I have to be very light-handed when applying because the “a little goes a long way” saying definitely goes for this product. In the packaging, the product looks like a very pale purple or taupe shade, and is the same when I swatched it on my finger. Then I applied it on my cheeks and was in for a surprise when it gave a beautiful rich berry colour payoff. I am not sure If a better shade would have matched my skin tone better or if a brighter pink or coral shade would have just been better in general, but I picked Mood Exposure because of the Benefit Hervana blush which has some plum-line shades in it that I do like very much still. The packaging that it comes in itself is gorgeous, as is all of the Hourglass branding and packaging, so that was just a bonus with this purchase.
Do you own any of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush products? If so, what shade do you have and what did you first think of it when you bought it? Leave a comment below and I may have to eventually buy a second shade for more options in the world of blushing cheeks.
