I thought I would keep a more updated note of which lip products I currently am obsessed with and reach for all the time, just in case any of you were wondering. This will be the summer lipsticks edition, while I give a quick rundown of my top three lip products of the moment. As a bonus I actually swatched all three of these products for your viewing pleasure!
First and foremost is the no brainer, my bold red statement lipstick. The Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red is always the product I reach for when I want a bold statement lip that I can trust will still be on my lips hours later. I have raved about this product on countless occasions and really do think that it is the perfect long-lasting bold red lipstick. It goes on creamy, but dries to a matte finish. This product gets all the extra points because it is also on the cheaper end of lip products sold through Sephora because their own brand usually runs a little less expensive than other brands. Considering some drugstore lipsticks can get up to about $10 and some higher end lipsticks can end up around $30 or more, this one falls nicely at C$18 and I am perfectly okay with this. Just a warning if you do go to purchase this one at a Sephora, make sure you are buying the right shade because I accidentally got the wrong shade when I bought it because one was in the wrong spot that looked very similar. I now own this shade, Strawberry Kissed (a matte bright pinky red), and Mandarin Muse (a matte bright orange-red).
I reached way back into my lip product collection lately and pulled out a product that I did not give enough love to when I first purchased it. The Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Fig is my current favourite when it comes to a berry lip colour. This muted purple-mauve shade is a great long wearing lipstick that really adds that extra punch to a normal everyday look. I have my eye on the Melted Nude shade, but Sephora was out of stock last time I went in to take a look at it. It will be a future purchase someday in the future when I see it in stock or make my next online purchase. I also own the Melted Peony shade, but I am not as crazy about it as I am about the mauve shade.
Lastly, for more of a nude or “your lips but better” shade, I will throw the prize to MAC’s Twig. This soft, muted neutral shade that is in the brownish-pink range. This shade is perfect for the days when you just feel like amping up your regular lip colour by a little bit. This is a tiny bit darker than the natural colour of my lips, but I love slightly darker lips, so this comes in handy for my perfect nude lipstick. I have purchased the shade Brave from MAC, and find that it is slightly more pink than this one, giving my favourite award to Twig in the end. The best thing about a shade like this is that you do not have to worry as much about how it looks, because it usually blends in really nicely throughout the day with your regular lip shade, unlike the other two lipsticks featured in this blog post because they are a lot more vibrant.
What are your current favourite lipstick products? Let me know in the comments below and I will definitely be looking them up!
