Well, well, well. Here we are at the beginning of June and I think it would be a perfect time to discuss my favourites over the past month. Technically this might as well be my April and May favourites because I did not post a favourites blog post for April. I usually do not gather too many items for these posts anyways, so I am only showing you the best of the best for what I have been loving lately.
Starting it off, I want to talk about my latest fashion purchase. On a recent browse through Aritzia, I picked up the Wilfred Diderot Sweater (in the Heather Oatmeal version). I already own this large cocoon-like sweater in black and have owned it for a couple years now, but I thought getting a lighter shade of the same sweater would be nice to switch it up more often. I always found the very small pyramid studs to be a nice touch on these sweaters, on top of the fact that they are extremely cozy and comfy. I did get this sweater in a size smaller than last time, so it is a bit of a tighter fit on my arms but I really don’t mind at all.
Another clothing item that has been well worn over the past few weeks are the Garage Banded Back Bralettes. I discovered how handy these were last summer when it was basically too hot to wear a full t-shirt or tank top to bed. As the summer heat as started to make an appearance, I have already resorted to switching to these tops to sleep in at night. These also work great under tank tops and muscle tanks when you just need something over top that is a bit more acceptable in public. They are always coming out with new patterns that make me want to buy more, which you can see here on their website.
Switching to the usual beauty-related products, I would like to shine a spotlight on a certain eye shadow product, which is the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour. I now own three of the shades in the range, originally Amethyst and Moonlight, but now Sand Glow is the newest addition to my collection. I am loving them all to pieces! These eye stick pencils have a creamy formula that is long-wearing, transfer-proof, and crease-resistant. They have a very rich pigment payoff and they blend really well after applying to your lids. I find the easiest way to use these is soapily from the stick onto your lid and then blend out with my finger. The two shades I have work really nicely together, one as a base colour and the other as more of a highlight for the inner corner, but I am really tempted to buy another in a completely different shade.
When it comes to a nail polish favourite, there is definitely one that stands out above the rest for me over the past month or so, and that is the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Tidal Wave. Not only is it my favourite nail polish range at the moment, but this electrifying cobalt blue is the closest thing I have seen that resembles my favourite colour for the past few months. The nail polish range is the long lasting polish I have ever had on my nails, but mostly only when paired with the matching top coat. I love seeing my nails this bright cobalt blue and it really adds a little something extra to my overall appearance.
I want to discuss a stand out hair care and styling product that has been well loved over the last month. The Dove Oxygen Moisture Root Lift Spray has been a favourite of mine (and my sister since I sprayed it in her hair once) for when my hair has been looking kind of flat and needed that extra help to make it look a little bit more voluminous. I used it on both damp and dry hair when needed and I would definitely recommend this to others that need a little volume boost to your hair, based at the roots. I guess another winning point is that my sister has asked to use it a few times herself, so that means something!
Another hair product I want to mention as a favourite is the Tinge Pastel Hair Conditioners. I did a whole blog review post here if you want to read a more in depth review of the products, but basically they are a hair conditioner that also turns platinum or bleached blonde hair really fun and awesome pastel colours. I love experimenting with pink and purple pastel hair, so this really is the perfect type of product for me. The pink pastel hair colour is always my favourite, so that is why the pink one made it into my favourites.
The last favourite I want to talk about is the Zazubean Sassy Chocolate Bar. Yes, a chocolate bar is a favourite this month, but for good reason! As some of you may know, I am lactose-intolerant and cannot enjoy in the simple pleasures of a milk chocolate bar anymore. Sure, there is dark chocolate, but I just do not enjoy it as much. The thing that is special about this chocolate bar is that it is vegan! This chocolate bar is sweetened with coconut sugar, contains coconut milk and is bursting with flavour from the exotic pomegranate blend, crunchy hazelnuts, and sea salt. I was a little unsure of what this chocolate bar would taste like because I am not super crazy about the taste of coconut or hazelnuts, but after the first bite I was in love. It basically tasted like chocolate covered pomegranate and that is something I do love. I purchased this chocolate bar from a Goodness Me location in Hamilton, but I am sure that they are available elsewhere. This is not seen in the photos because I ate the whole thing already.
