With the repurchase of one of my favourite base products and the new purchases of a few other products, here comes my everyday makeup base products blog post! This is not quite a foundation base type of post where I go into the concealers and setting powders and whatnot, but just a few extra steps after my skin care routine, falling more in the priming category, that I use to prepare for my favourite lightweight and light coverage foundation-like base product.
After I finish my morning skin care routine, ending with the moisturizer, I like to make sure my skin is really smooth and any chance to minimize pores is taken care in this step. I purchased the Garnier Skin Renew 5 Second Blur Instant Smoother on a whim, not having read too many reviews on it before making the purchase. This is a light pink primer-like substance that glides onto your face to provide an even smoother surface to apply your makeup. It is designed to blur any wrinkles, fine lines, flaws, and visible pores… as well as making your skin feel smoother, look younger, and be more radiant. I like how it makes my skin feel after applying it, but with the pore minimizing claims, it falls in line with all the other products that I have tried that do not make much of a visible appearance.
Coming into the proper priming step, I am currently using a primer that continues the whole smooth theme. I ended up buying the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer after hearing all the hype around several products from this primer range. I was torn between the Mattifying, Smoothing, and Hydrating variations, but in the end I went with the smoothing one. I do love my Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water, but I wanted a primer that would go on exactly where I put it and stay throughout the day. This comes in handy when you have some spots on your face that need that extra smooth surface for a very even makeup application. After these first two products, my skins is all prepped for my next step.
As I mentioned, I repurchased one of my favourite products again, which is the Dr. Jart+Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm. This was only available online to me as my sephora locations stopped carrying this product. This wonder product is a purifying face cream that hides uneven skintone and blemishes, while providing SPF 25 and other skin care benefits. I usually love my foundations to have a good amount of coverage, but I find that this universal shade BB cream does the trick with evening out my skin tone and I use concealer if I need to add any more coverage afterwards. I find this product to be perfect for my everyday use, and I will amp up the coverage with other fuller coverage foundations if needed for going out or having a nasty skin day.
That is basically it for my everyday makeup base routine to getting a really smooth and even makeup application from these three products. Have any tips in your daily routine that you feel like sharing? Comment below and share your beauty secrets.
