Essie Gel Couture Review

The new Essie gel couture nail polish collection… with a twist!

I have really loved the Essie nail polish line for ages. However, I found it to be not the longest lasting product range. I still managed to gain quite the collection of shades because I am a sucker for a great nail colour. The brand has just recently launched the new Essie Gel Couture range, which definitely caught my eye. Count me in!

These new gel polishes thankfully come in at about the same price as the regular nail polishes. With a great starter collection there is a decent range of over 40 shades in this new gel formula. I am sure more colours will be added, just like they add new colours to the regular line. I managed to find one that I loved at first sight called Style in Excess. Some people describe it as an icy slate grey, but it is more of a light lilac purple to me. I picked up the top coat with it to seal it in for that long lasting nail polish that everyone wants. The packaging is quite different than any other nail polish range, with the twisted bottle giving it quite the classy look.

I find the Essie gel couture polish goes on nice and smoothly, and only one coat is really needed. I topped it off with a very light second coat anyways. No UV lamp is needed for this product range. I simply just applied the top coat and let them air dry. There were no signs of smudging; always a bonus! This polish lasted just over a week on my nails, not the full two weeks as advertised. I have certain fingers that chip faster than others, so I did re-apply the gel polish on three nails before others showed any chipping. I’m still in the process of moving into a new house, so it may have lasted longer in other circumstances.

I am very impressed with the Essie gel couture range so far and cannot wait to get my hands on more shades! Is there any must have shades from the gel collection that I should get next? Let me know in the comments below.
