With the change in season comes the changes in colour palettes for makeup, for some people. One of the main makeup colours that change throughout the year is lipstick colours. People tend to go for the brighter and more coral shades for summer, but in autumn that changes. As soon as the cooler season hits, people swap their lipsticks for the deeper shades. I am no exception to this not-so-strange occurrence that happens every year. I posted a photo on Instagram recently and thought I would go into more detail about these two special lipsticks that I think are perfect for the season.
The deeper red autumn lipstick.
Once in a while, I will dare to go darker with my lipstick choices. I picked up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Heathers a while back and have now brought it out for the autumn season. This liquid lipstick is a matte brownish oxblood shade, uncommon to my collection. It is perfect if you want to steer away from that classic bold red lip. I tend to stick to liquid lipsticks because they have a much longer-lasting formula that will get me through the day. This helps my avoid too much hassle of re-applying and showing signs of the lipstick wearing. This shade is no joke as it gives an intense amount of matte pigment that lasting on my lips for about 12 hours. I hope to eventually add a few more shades from this range to my collection, but Heathers will be fine as my autumn lipstick.
The classic bold red lipstick… but with a twist.
This lipstick is a special one because of its very limited release that it had with Sephora. The Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Project Chimps is a shade that raised money for Project Chimps. Twenty percent of the retail price goes to benefit the non-profit to save the chimps. The shade is a matte rusty red colour; a medium-dark red with warm, brownish undertones. The “rusty” part of the shade is what makes this shade special. Just as the rest of the lipsticks in the Everlasting range, this lipstick is very long-lasting, opaque, and very pigmented. The Kat Von D collection remains to be one of my favourite liquid lipstick formulas. Adding this unique shade of red to my collection as a complete no-brainer. It was already removed from the Sephora website, but there are still limited quantities available in your local Sephora stores. Run out and grab the shade now before it’s gone forever.
