Recently I took you on a quick tour of my skincare collection that I deal with every day. I’m moving on to another portion of my “vanity”, which is just my bathroom counter. I will be taking you through a look at my face makeup collection. Everything from primers to foundations, concealers to face powders.

Makeup Primers Galore
Just with an initial glance at the photo, there are three primers visible, and one hidden underneath. In my defence, they all do something different and the main one in front is nearly finished. I jumped on the bandwagon when the Marc Jacobs Beauty Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer was both a mouthful and all the hype. I do love this pricey primer because it was a good base for makeup and felt hydrating on the skin.
When the new range of Urban Decay primers came out, I collected two of them. I have the Optical Illusion Complexion Primer, as well as the Self-Adjusting Complexion Primer. I was definitely intrigued by these products and although I’m not over-the-moon in love with them, I do still enjoy using them. The primer that’s hidden in the drawer is the mattifying KIKO Milano primer that I purchased in Europe last summer. I think this primer does a really great job of keeping things matte throughout the day, but I don’t reach for it often. Maybe it will come back out in the warmer months.
Laying Down the Foundation
I also have a selection of foundations to pick from each morning when I do my makeup. It all depends on how much coverage I need. Pictured are the Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm, Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation, and L’Oréal Infallible Total Cover Foundation. But I’m only going to mention one of these for now because it is the one I reach for almost every single day. The MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation is super easy to use, convenient for travel, and perfect to build up and blend out.
Concealing It Up
I only have one concealer on the go at the moment but in two shades. The concealer that everyone and their mom has been talking about – the Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer. I love using this concealer under my eyes and around my face sparingly. It dries quickly and avoids looking cakey. You do not need to set this with a powder, which is another reason everyone is putting this concealer at the top of their list.
Powders for Everything Else
My stack of face powders changes every so often, but I tend to only keep one blush, bronzer, and highlight in my view at once. For blush, I almost always go for my favourite: the tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed. It’s my favourite because it’s fairly soft pink, but can be built up for more pigment if needed. For highlight, I have recently been using the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Prismatic Amethyst. Anything amethyst-related, I’m on it! As for my bronzer, I have rotated through 2-3 bronzers a lot, but I always love when it comes back to the Soap and Glory Solar Powder. They call it a bronzer/highlight mix, but I see it as just a bronzer. For setting my makeup, I have the MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Pressed Powder because it’s compact and ready to use when I need it. I have other face powders, but this is the one I end up grabbing 99% of the time.
I hope you’ve enjoyed another look at my vanity. If you noticed that this didn’t mention any eye makeup or the fact that my skincare didn’t include an eye cream – you’re a great detective. Look forward to a post on “all things eyes” coming your way soon.
