First Impressions: Pixi Beauty Favourites

Pixi Beauty is not the new kid on the block, but more of the exchange kid that just returned back home. When Target was still in Canada, we had easy access to all the products in every Target. Target went away and took Pixi with it. Until now! Pixi Beauty is now sold at Shoppers Drug Mart and people are more curious than ever to see what all the hype is about.

The #PixiPretties Favourites

The Pixi gods have answered my prayers and I opened my mailbox one day and found a box of goodies. They curated a box of favourite items in collaboration with some of their favourite online influencers. These influencers include Aspyn Ovard, Caroline Hirons, ItsJudyTime, and Maryam Maquillage. I have heard of a couple of the products, while others are brand new to me.

The collaboration with Aspyn Ovard, someone I have followed for quite a while now, is the blush. I know that she did a few Glow-y Cheek Powders, but the one in this box was the blush named Rome Rose. This rosy blush has a tiny bit of a shimmer to it, just enough to add some radiance to the cheeks. Sometimes I prefer a matte blush, but this one is for the days that I want to bring my glow up an extra notch.

A Go-To Eye Palette

The ItsEyeTime eyeshadow palette from the ItsJusyTime collaboration has a great range of colours that could help you create any warm-toned look you could basically ever want. I know I often drift towards cooler shades for eyeshadows, but I have ventured into the world of warm-toned looks a lot more this year. These eyeshadows are super silky and blend very easily. You get a lot of product in each pan, so this palette is going to last for a long time! There is a good mixture of mattes and shimmers, easy for both daytime and night time looks.

Every Brand Needs to Strobe

The only product that I will not be getting too much use out of is the Strobe & Bronze palette. This collaboration with Maryam Maquillage, although beautiful, isn’t quite right for me. This is nothing against the brand or product itself, I just happen to be much too pale to really make these shades work well for me. I can barely use the lightest bronzing shade, which comes off a tad bit too warm for my liking. The lightest highlight isn’t quite light enough, but I can make it work some days. As long as you’re not super pale, I think this palette would work really well. I know there is a brush in with this collaboration collection and that would help perfect the application.

The 2-in-1 Double Cleanse

If you’ve heard about double cleansing, you may have heard of the collaboration with Caroline Hirons which resulted in the Double Cleanse. This half cleansing oil, half luxurious cleansing cream is the perfect cleansing duo! The solid cleansing oil works to remove any makeup residue my melting it down and once you have that removed with a warm wash cloth, the cream cleanser continues to cleanse your skin while giving your skin a boost of hydration. For anyone wondering, you do wash off the cream portion as well before moving on with your skin care products. The oil is recommended to use at night, while the cream can be used after the oil or by itself in the mornings.

The Classic Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic

A staple product that people buy when introduced to the brand, is the cult favourite Glow Tonic. This is the one product that I already own and have been using as one of my toners. I can tell you that I am a fan of that one already. The only thing I don’t like about it… it how it dispenses out of the bottle. I usually use spray bottle toners and this one just gets messy sometimes. The Glycolic Acid is the main reason I keep using this toner, to help with my texture issues. I use this toner and the toner from The Ordinary and find them both very similar. Pixi’s wins for the better scent though!

Have you tried any products from Pixi Beauty yet? Let me know which products you have used. I always wander by the shelf in Shoppers and consider adding to my collection. There are some other products that I have tried from the brand, but I’ll save those for another day.
