Balm Diggity: My Favourite Lip Balms

favourite tinted lip balm my favourite lip balms

Despite how corny the title of this blog post is, I’m here to put the spotlight on a few of my favourite lip products. I used to only carry liquid lipsticks with me, but I have definitely switched up for the lower maintenance option, the lip balm. There is a variety of kinds, which is why I want to showcase my favourites. I was very loose with the term “balm” because some are regular lip balms, some are tinted lip balms, and one if a lipstick, but I use it in a way that is balm-like. Keep reading to find out why I love these balms. I might even tell you which balm is my absolute favourite right now if I had to pick just one.

The Classiest Lip Balm

Give it to the lip balm with the best ingredients in their products to have the most visually appealing packaging in my eyes. In a rose gold tube, this clear plumping lip balm looks like you are using a lipstick when applying it. To match the rest of Boosh‘s branding, their signature Lip Plumping Balm has definitely found a place in my heart and is my ultimate go to when it comes to lip balms. This one does not have a tint like all the others on this post, but the minty effect on the lips is a great feeling after applying it. As I stated before, the ingredients are amazing with Boosh because their products are free of lead and heavy metals, parabens, phthalates, artificial colourants, and synthetic fragrances.

The Tinted Lip Balms

I don’t normally reach for lipstick anymore, it’s incredibly rare actually, but the tinted lip balm is my perfect compromise. The closest product I have found to the previously mentioned clear balm is the Buxom Powerplump Lip Balm, in the shade Big O. Their balm has the plumping effect and a sheer pink tint to add to your lips. The product itself is quite large, so it will take you a long time to go through. If I want a tint and plumping effect, this is definitely my go-to balm!

If you want to be extra, you can get yourself a Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm. I have the shade Lilac Glow because I had to see what all the fuss was about with these balms. I felt like the slightly purple tint with lilac would be a nice addition to my selection of products. It is quite hydrating for my lips and adds the perfect wash of sheer colour to my lips. The packaging is super chic and true to Dior branding. It is quite pricey for a balm, I will admit that. So treat yourself only if you’re willing to pay for the brand name.

When people say lip balm and then Glossier, they instantly think of their actual lip balms. That’s not the product I’m featuring though, as I don’t like using my finger to apply from a tube. No shade though, I quite enjoy the mint scented balm! The product that I enjoy using for a bit of colour, but is actually a matte lipstick is the Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick in the shade Like. A lot of people were not a fan as they were expecting more pigment, even though the word “sheer” is in its title. It is a buildable formula though. I prefer to use it for the sheerest bit of a tint. The light pink shade Like is my favourite of the shades. It may not be as hydrating as the balms, but can be used over top of another if a more hydrating formula is desired.

The Magical Lip Balm

Colour adapting products aren’t the newest of innovations now, but there is something about the Lipstick Queen’s Girls Will Be Boys lipstick. Yes, this is a lipstick, but a very unique one. It is a tone-shirting pink shade that gives an appearance of a “just kissed” look. The lipstick is full of healthy ingredients, such as vitamin E, shea butter, and mango butter. It is a very comfortable lip product to wear. What is so unique about this one is that you apply it from a grey lipstick bullet. Yes, grey! Then the magic happens and the shade changes on your lips to your perfect shade. Its seude-like texture helps to cover imperfections in your lips and helps give the appearance of a fuller-looking pout. I haven’t heard about this unique lipstick anywhere else and definitely think it deserves more hype around it!
